We recently marked the second anniversary of a landmark event in the development of a new maritime port on the Savannah River in Jasper County. Two years ago – on July 29, 2008, to be exact – the Georgia Department of Transportation conveyed the 1,517-acre port site to a new bi-state joint venture owned equally by South Carolina and Georgia.
