March on Washington with Beaufort County
Posted on September 14, 2009
Here’s a clip of the short speech I made in DC last Friday evening to the 120 Beaufort County folks who made the trek to our nation’s capital:
I rode to DC with my constituents because I believe our federal government has embarked upon a course of action that is deforming the relationship between Americans and their government.
There is hope; no need to throw in the towel just yet. As Adam Smith said, “there is a lot of ruin in a nation,” and a country has to travel long and hard in the wrong direction before the damage becomes irreversible. But too many people fail to even realize we have taken a wrong turn.
Our elected officials have failed us, and there’s plenty of blame to go around. I am angry not just with the current administration and governing parties in Congress, but also with Republican leaders who have in recent years voted for massive new entitlements. That said, however, the Obama Administration has certainly stomped on the accelerator.
If you share my concerns, or if you simply like participating in lively political debates, I invite you to become a “friend” of my Facebook page, where I periodically post stories of interest (well, at least of interest to me!). You can also follow me on Twitter.

Tom,
For what it is worth, I believe that we Republicans could attract voters of all stripes if our candidates would run on issues supporting 1) the Fair Tax and 2) Term Limits. We may not beable to actually get those issues passed into law but, many people would be interested in anyone supporting them.

We would support term limits. More importantly Congress must live by the laws they pass for those citizens they represent. We can no longer tolerate an elite society named congress.
We have decided not to vote for candidates who voted for the Bush and Obama bailouts. Party no longer matters only actions.
Tom I agree 100% with Dick comments on Fair Tax and term limits, knowing full well something so wonderful as that for the people will be fought by the self serving power hungry career politicians. I also believe that many Republicans in DC are part of the problem, one from SC coming to mind.
We need quality leader’s that can inspire us to the ideals of our founding father’s that were so revolutionary and that are being destroyed now. The only finger pointing we need now is from an inspirational leader who can point us back to our time proven roots, of We The People.
I am happy you posted the video I made of your speech in DC as you spoke from the heart and I appreciated it.
